What to look for
Before you buy a London key.
- Check the dates. The Waldorf Hotel (London) here is a different hotel from the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
- The Royal Hotel fob is listed at $1,450, which is an ask, not a price anyone has paid.
- Early, heavy, hand-finished pieces cost more than 1970s keys.
- Dealers who give a written guarantee, such as Flying Tiger Antiques, are the safer choice for pricier pieces.
